Tool - 12 March 2014 - Bill Graham Civic, San Francisco, CA
Re: Tool - 12 March 2014 - Bill Graham Civic, San Francisco,
I have serious poster envy right now. Coming from the guy with 6 signed and 1 signed and doodled on his wall. DAMN THATS SEXY!
Re: Tool - 12 March 2014 - Bill Graham Civic, San Francisco,
Really interesting footage with some great closeups of Danny, Adam and Maynard.

Re: Tool - 12 March 2014 - Bill Graham Civic, San Francisco,
Great show! Tool kills it every time! I had so much fun seeing them for a second night. Someone asked me after "which show was better?" my answer: who cares, I got to see both!
At the end Maynard said "We will be back", always a good thing to hear! whenever it is I'll be there. Although I know none of the members are reading, still want to say THANK YOU TOOL!

Good to see them change it up a little from show to show. I think they have yet to play an identical setlist two nights in a row. That's something 'new' for them in recent tours.Kanaduh wrote:gonna post detailed review later, but just wanted to say I wasn't a fan of the setlist last night. They replaced Third Eye with Hooker, and then replaced Pushit with Sober.
those are actually horrible changes! in my opinion...

Re: Tool - 12 March 2014 - Bill Graham Civic, San Francisco,
now that both shows are over, i am seriously kicking myself for choosing 2nd night over the first. there's no way to predict ahead of time, but i totally wish i had done it the other way around.
would have much rather heard 3rd eye/pushit/opiate (particularly opiate) over hooker/vicarious/sober. hooker was nice, hadn't heard it since lolla 97. pretty sure i haven't heard anything from opiate since ozzfest 98 tho
although it was my first sober since coachella 2006, incredibly.
it was a short show, started after 9 and over before 11 with intermission. i took a chance flying up even after san diego was announced and feel like i got burned considering it ended up costing me nearly $300 with a day of work missed - and that was with a free flight
hopefully san diego delivers one of the gems i missed 1st night and perhaps another surprise. at least i can drive there and back same day
visuals for lateralus were pretty mindblowing though and schism/stinkfist jams tore me up. intension didn't impress me this night, partly due to the relatively inattentive crowd around me just in front of soundboard. adding confetti was a head scratcher, to be honest. aenema also left me feeling indifferent - strobe disco ball effect was killer however. maybe i'm overanalyzing...

I'm also curious as to what is behind that setlist. Is that some VIP pass type material?joeypants wrote:xZ1mM3r wrote: The band doesnt call it B'Boom.... they just call it Dan Solo..... heres the setlist that they used on stage in Eugene..

Re: Tool - 12 March 2014 - Bill Graham Civic, San Francisco,
The blotter papers are made by a guy I follow online, he and a friend had them made--they do not have anything on them, for anyone wondering! The sheets were printed specifically for this tour, and allegedly they will be available at every show, being sold by a couple different people. As far as I know they only mean to sell them at the US dates on this tour, but I can ask the guy if they intend on taking them to the Mexican dates as well.

I wonder if it's the same guy that recorded the 2010 San Fran sets. Whoever that was knows what they're doing. One of the best audience recordings I've heard.

Re: Tool - 12 March 2014 - Bill Graham Civic, San Francisco,
Don't really see this tour "evolving" anymore. I guess we can wait and see. The extended Opiate is really cool. However, its a disappointment there seems to be nothing of New album material, again. Except maybe the new Schism intro, but to be honest, I liked the last one a lot better. Would it be that much to give a little more of a taste. Its not like it would really ruin anything.
Im curious what their plan is with this extended Opiate though? Could it actually be a Salival II type deal. Probably not, there have been no real hints at this, unless this is the first. Maybe they could plan on adding some live tracks to the new album? Who knows? Nothing will probably come of it as usual. They really should record the newer extended jam of Third Eye though, because its awesome.
Whats your guesses, will the tour evolve or devolve from here?
