I thought Trent said he doesn't do those sort of festivals anymore?

I think Trent was being polite, and not trying to point out that the Soundwave promoters were acting fraudulently. He has, and will continue to do "those types" of festivals.

Going to the first two nights of the Fall tour in New Orleans. Can't wait! Never seen them in a venue quite that small. Aragon Ballroom is the smallest place I've seen them.

First night at Red Rocks for me. Only place I'd rather be is probably New Orleans for this one.

I've been hearing nothing but good things about this one. Everybody is pretty excited about it. I'm holding off until later tonight to give it a proper listen.

I’m probably the biggest NIN fan on this forum but damn the first couple listens of this did absolutely zero for me.

It’s a lotta sounds but nothings going on.. I hope I just don’t “get it” yet but I refer you to the first 6 words I wrote on this post.

Right now is 5/10 at best.

First listen did nothing for me as well, which was disappointing because I really liked the first two EPs. I think the last song was pretty cool(?)

Huge NIN fan here too, actually my favorite “band”. Agreed that Bad Witch isn’t very good at all. Spun it probably 20 times now and it’s, well, kind of bad and disappointing actually.

Most songs go nowhere, or are repetitive both musically and/or lyrically. Or a decent song like Shit Mirror gets ruined by a clap track.

Pains me to type this but I don’t think Trent can make a decent album anymore. I’d love to see Atticus Ross get the hell out of the picture for change of pace sake. A lot of the stuff they’ve done over the last decade or so (Ghosts, soundtrack stuff, How To Destroy Angels) seems interchangeable.

I loved what they did with their high production tours as well, and that seems to be in the rear view mirror too. I’m guessing Trent wants to be as profitable as possible now considering all the festivals last summer and this year.

Like NIN's last half a dozen albums, it sits somewhere in the "meh" category.

The two instrumentals are pretty decent (even my non NIN friends liked them) and God Break Down.... has a nice Lost Highway type vibe.

But I'll be damned if the first two tracks don't sound like crappy demos that were discarded during the Hesitation Marks sessions...

Pretty poor effort.

Just saw them this past Friday and Saturday in NOLA. Fucking INCREDIBLE! They're as good as ever, and this may be the strongest lineup I've seen them perform with (and that's really saying something).

I was iffy when it was announced and seeing videos, but I was FLOORED by the new light show. Videos can't transmit the beautiful disorientation that comes from that much goddamn fog with so many strobes. It's unreal. Trent can take like two baby steps back from the mic and just totally disappear into a cloud of smoke and light.

Also Saturday they opened with Somewhat Damaged and did the thing where they begin performing with house lights on, which is incredible. A++, 13/10. Would smash.

Friday Setlist:

The Fireman (Angelo Badalamenti song)
Branches/Bones
Wish
Less Than
March of the Pigs
The Lovers
This Isn't the Place
Reptile
Sin
The Perfect Drug
Shit Mirror
Ahead of Ourselves
God Break Down the Door
Copy of A
Gave Up
I'm Afraid of Americans(David Bowie cover)
The Hand That Feeds
Head Like a Hole

Encore:
All the Love in the World
Even Deeper
Hurt

Saturday Setlist:

Somewhat Damaged
The Day the World Went Away
The Frail
The Wretched
Sanctified
Burn
Survivalism
La Mer
Closer(With snippet of “The Only Time”)
The Becoming
The Lovers
The Great Destroyer
Burning Bright (Field on Fire)
Only
Starfuckers, Inc.
Head Like a Hole

Encore:
Help Me I Am in Hell
Happiness in Slavery
Over and Out
Hurt
