It's pretty straight forward, which in and of itself isn't a turn off, except that in this case, I find it pretty boring as a whole package.
there's a lot of things this album is and is not, "boring" is not one of them. in my humble opinion. <<<that can't be good English.

Yeah it's not boring, it's Mastodon being Mastodon, in 5 or 10 years some fans will be calling it their greatest, I can really see that.

It's an ok album, interesting in parts, but for the most part is a bit by the numbers. You guys need to appreciate that Pete doesn't have a great deal of appreciation for Mastodon in the first place.

Heard it for the second time today, I totally get the Foo Fighters comparison now, on one song anyway.

I liked the last song more the second time around, everything else was about the same for me.

"bit by the numbers" is probably a better choice of words than boring, but that's it ... they've got better chops, we all know it and for a quality band, I anticipate that the product will be better. If this was tool's latest record, I can only imagine how awesome you all would think it was. This is middle of the road, 'please, play us on the radio' stuff at best.

Yup, I love this album. Fav track is probably Once More 'Round The Sun or Aunt Lisa.

Mastodon's twitter account has been hacked. Judging by the content of the tweets I'm guessing the hacker was probably Tyson.

I am quite digging this album as well as the new Opeth.

Now, what's this about Tool not having any thing out in the last 7-8 years? Meh.

just did a front to back listen again, there's so much going on instrument wise, it's very layered. can't really get a hold on it after 1 or 2 spins. it really is excellent shit.
