Drugs are one of the few things that would make this story make sense.

I don't think anyone suspects for a second that drugs aren't involved...

What the heck, I thought the members of Cannibal Corpse were a wholesome bunch, they always were one of the better passed away metal bands.

New Swans album is now written and will commence recording in March.
Many guests will appear.
No idea how long it will take to complete.
It is not called nucleus, marrow, or meat.
None of the songs took a decade to find heat.
At some point it will be released.

2019 will mark 25 years since the formation of Download, the avant-garde, post-industrial project featuring Skinny Puppy's Cevin Key, and Vancouver fixture musician Phil Western.

"Unknown Room" is the project's 11th studio album, recorded in Los Angeles over a several-year period, culminating in a recent two-month session in the Fall that Key describes as being "extremely intense."

The results are stunning. Key and Western dived deep for this release, continuing a love for the magic of synthesizers, coupled with an interest in mining the sounds of the past to create something new. On Unknown Room, one hears some of the old Bites-era sampling techniques coming through, as well as a strong Tangerine Dream influence. Fans of second-wave Download, early Skinny Puppy, minimal techno, and off the wall zaniness from the 1970s and 1980s pioneers that mixed prog experiments with analog equipment will love what is here.

Drone metal gods Sunn O))) have 2 new albums coming in 2019, both of which were produced by the equally legendary Steve Albini.

The first release, Life Metal, is due out in April through Southern Lord Recordings. It will be followed up this fall with a “more meditative” LP titled, Pyroclasts.

Sunn O))) co-founders Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson began working on new music in early 2018. Following an initial pre-production session at Dave Grohl’s 606 Studios in California, they made their way to Chicago to record at Albini’s Electrical Audio.

“An all analogue technique” was used for Life Metal, as the band “recorded and mixed on tape, providing a creative gateway for Sunn O))) to evolve their production methods into stronger, confident, performance based and a more logical executive process,” according to a press release.

Joining the band on Life Metal is composer and frequent live collaborator Hildur Guðnadóttir, who adds vocals, electric cello, and haldorophone to the track “Novae”. Additionally, Tim Midyett plays aluminium neck bass and baritone guitars throughout the album, while Anthony Pateras contributes pipe organ to “Troubled Air”.

Below, you can listen to a five-minute preview of Life Metal.

Recorded in parallel with Life Metal, Pyroclasts features contributions from Guðnadóttir, Midyett, and frequent collaborator Tos Nieuwenhuizen, a.k.a. T.O.S. Further details of that album will be revealed in the months ahead.

Sunn O)))’s last full-length album came back in 2015 with Kannon.

Heilung announce new album ‘Futha’

The new album, titled Futha, is the latest offering from the amplified history group and is scheduled to be released in May this year.

Speaking about the album, the band says, “the majority of full rune set inscriptions start with Futha, and is known to us as the first four letters in all runic alphabets. It is considered that our forefathers saw magic potential in engraving the full rune line, but there is also great significance in the beginnings. Science has no key for the meaning of only engraving the first couple of letters yet, but there is, of course, a surplus of theories. One of the theories we found inspiration in, is that Futha holds the meaning of fertility and female gender. As Ofnir focused on war and masculine notions, the great healing power of female wild strength is evoked in Futha. Those who have been present at a birth or have seen lionesses hunting know the spirit, and we welcome and embrace it in the sounds that were born during the creation of Futha.”

L7 have a new album coming, and released a new track. It's a bit crap though, like the last couple they've released. I suspect they probably should have just the reunion and left it at that.
