Tool - 19 March 2014 - Palacio de los Deportes, Mexico City

Tool will be "touring" (well, playing one show in Mexico at time of writing) North America in March 2014.

- You like noisy music?
- Yes. The louder the better. Stops me from thinking.

- Never thought about it.

That will never happen. There seems to be something about this band that makes them get away with almost anything.

I bet The 'Nard and the boys could kill a small child live on stage, and people would still make excuses for them.
My theory has always been everyone wants the "bad guy/girl"

In that we are attracted to that which is not normal.

How many "major" groups actually do what Tool does?
Long album cycle, don't talk to fans much, little online presence, etc.
Not a whole lot of 'em.

Being reserved, hard to get to, mysterious; it keeps us guessing and wanting to know more.

Marketing at its finest. Cheap and effective.

I'd be interested in hearing a review of this show from someone who was there.

Weren't there a few 4E-ers that went?

Festival shows usually are a little less "cool" but maybe the Mexican factor helped...?

I figured we would get some sort of fan art for a Mexican show. Not the worst I have seen (Kyle Millar) but not something I would buy.

I would like to see AJ put the Mexican flag colors in with this skull series.

Any AJ prints for the Mexican show?

I have not found any pics of a poster for last night although I did see pics of two TooL tees with Mexican flags. Now I can't find the pic again!

I forget, is this their first time in Mexico? Either way, loud Mexican crowds must be a joy to play for. They're incredibly enthusiastic.

If they drop those three tracks from the setlist he'd be sad.

I doubt there will be another Tool gig played without Lateralus and Aenema. Jambi may be cut after the new album drops.

PS - the Album is spelled Aenima, but the song is spelled Aenema.

See above. Apparently not.

Not a big deal, just thought I'd mention it.

By the way, this seems pretty plausible:

Re: Ænema vs. Ænima
I think that the song is spelled like "Ænema" because it's more similar to the spelling of the word "enema" which deals with purging much like the song itself. The title of the album, spelled "Ænima", looks more similar to "anima", because the general theme of the album deals with the same kind of spirituality presented by Carl Jung in his psychological theories. "Anima" is also the feminine version of the latin word for "soul".
