Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I know there were complaints about the way the TA Message Board worked, often finding it difficult to locate new replies in older posts, along with having too many folks posting new things to the main board, but there was quite an active community in there.fortysixand2 wrote:It looks like they had, at one point, thought about using phpBB.hellboy wrote:I doubt that will happen, at least not in their current format. From what I understand there are too many underlying security problems with the code, and would more or less require a re-write (or some other third-party forum software used) to have this happen. For whatever reason, this doesn't appear to be a priority for the band.nxrm wrote: It was also interesting to read the "Question" from the TA member that stated he was the reason the Message Boards were shut down. If I remember correctly, there were three people involved with screwing over the website at the time. Not sure who this person is and their specific involvement, but I'd love to see the Message Boards opened up again.

Extremely thankful that Fourtheye exists though. It's definitely been a haven in the aftermath. Thanks Hellboy!

Oh man, this place was a haven for me even before that. The messageboard format for the old ToolArmy board was essentially unusable to me. Just an abysmal interface. No hate there, I know that when it was initially put together things were different and I know the intentions were in the right place. Just prefer this kind of format so much better.nxrm wrote: Extremely thankful that Fourtheye exists though. It's definitely been a haven in the aftermath. Thanks Hellboy!
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
It definitely took me a while to appreciate the TA boards, but spending a lot of time reading posts and who was responding (and how they were responding) helped a lot. There were definitely pockets of conversations taking place in there all the time. I obviously have a difficult time letting things go though.joeypants wrote:Oh man, this place was a haven for me even before that. He has been moved to hospice. This is a very sad day for the TooL community.
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I went to see Minnow and Beware of Safety play at the Silverlake Lounge last night and Danny Carey made an appearance. I know the guys in BoS are Tool fans, and you can definitely hear it in their drummer's sound. If you're interested, you can check out Beware of Safety's new album 'Lotusville' here: http://bewareofsafety.bandcamp.com/
Minnow recently released a new album as well ('Trembles & Temperance'). I know Danny was there and heard my favorite new song of theirs, "Coyote (Goodnight)." You can check out all of their music on their website: http://www.minnowmusic.com/
Anyhow, just a cool coincidence I thought I'd share.

My thoughts are with the TOOL family.
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I know, right? I'll just have to corner him at the next Baked Potato event and get him to sign a sworn affidavit confirming his appearance last night.badkittygothgirl wrote:Pics or it didn't happen. Ha!
In retrospect, I guess it could have been his decoy.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Is it even possible for Danny Carey to have a decoy? He's the Chuck Norris of prog rock. A regular trojan horse.

Possibly New Lawsuit News?
12-06-2014:
The lawsuit that has delayed Tool's upcoming fifth album is set for trial on January 12, 2015.
Stated by band members as the main reason why they have been unable to complete new material since 2006, Clarendon National Insurance Co. have sued Tool seeking reimbursement and equitable indemnity after defending them in a suit filed by graphic designer Cameron de Leon, which was settled in 2007.
Californian judge Deidre Hill denied Clarendon's attempt at summary adjudication in a ruling on Wednesday, citing factual disputes as a reason for his decision. Siding with Tool, Hill stated that the band did not violate Clarendon's policies on defamation and copyright claims, and that the insurance company also used evidence from 2010 in order to defend their position made in 2007.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Yeah, just posted something very similar to Fourtheye. Jan 22 is the actual trial date I believe.
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
This dude (Tool Archive) has worked hard to pull out lot lots of little bits from the songs... I like this sort of stuff it is interesting...

Here's some interesting background on Rosetta Stoned, that was put together but Bill Manspeaker (so I'm told):

Was a bit tl;dr for me, but looked interesting.
