I'm digging it. I hope the chorus isn't too melodic for you fucktards. don't want the forum to explode with unwarranted Mastodon hate.

The vocals were so terrible in that video, I currently have no opinion of the chorus.

Well I wish the video hadn't cut out right at the most interesting part of the song. Sounds OK. Live vocals are no way to be introduced to a new Mastodon song though, that's one thing I've learned over the years haha.

Mastodon accuse Dave Grohl of “making rock n roll safer”

I'm not a massive fan of Grohl's creative output, but a band as pathetic as MASTODON taking shots at someone who has worked hard to be where he is is just disgusting.

Fuck them. They've released one half-decent album in their entire lifespan, and yet have managed to convince everyone that they're fresh and amazing.

These fuckers need to get off their high horse - they're average at best. A few good songs and that's about it. Next!

"LEVIATHAN". Anything based on "MOBY-DICK" is going to be at least half decent, in my opinion.

I concur. Although I like some of their songs from earlier albums, it is not something I listen to regularly. Not a fan of the vocals at all. Maybe the new album will change my mind.

Their Grohl comments reek of trying to get attention. Looks like it just might work.

I agree that Leviathan is the only good thing this band has done.

Fuck that shit. Foo Fighters suck. Nirvana fucking sucked. Grohl is massively overrated. I enjoyed seeing Brent take a shot at him. Hopefully he does it again.

Of late I have been thinking about Mastodon and the direction they took with The Hunter and where they are going with Once More 'Round The Sun. I think we are being unfair comparing what they are doing now with their prior works. The direction shift was so dramatic that you almost have to approach looking at Mastodon now as a different band. The Hunter is not a bad album. Take away their prior work (which is superior), and I suspect the album would have garnered a warmer reception. Even the latest song, High Road, isn't bad musically. If you just slightly change that annoying ass chorus it would be a really cool song. I can't blame Mastodon for wanting to change up their sound. I respect them for it. I like The Hunter. I suspect Once More 'Round the Sun will be pretty solid.

Mastodon posted a sample of a song on Facebook, it was pretty brief but it sounded like Mastodon.
