^ OK, now I see your point.  We are talking about two very different things.

1) Hanging with friends at a given local bar/nightclub you frequent, where there also happens to be live music, probably local acts.

2) Going to a medium to large live music venue specifically to see a NAME band.

Now, I know there's some grey area there, but I was basing my comments on #2.  Also, the connotation I have of a "scene" is negative - poser/hipster related.

I can see where you're coming from and agree on #1.

I question how much that scenario actually happens.  I've put down Pete's disdain of the Melbourne scene to his general misanthropy rather than there being an unusual amount of "scenesters".

the funny thing is the hipsters I've unfortunately had the displeasure of running into HATE the Deftones. but they love The United Nations, Head Automatica and Glassjaw. loving Glassjaw and having disdain for the Deftones baffles me being they basically gave birth to GJ.

Yeah I have heard of Glassjaw.  Fuck em.  They are DT ripoffs in much the same way the entire Djent genre (minus Animals as Leaders, who are most definitely not Djent) is one big Meshuggah rip off.

Categorizing them in the same genre as Limp Bisquick and Disturbed is fucking ridiculous.

when you lay down with dogs... and tour frequently and regularly and guest on albums, etc. They were bound to get lumped in the same way as every band from Seattle was grunge

@HB: yes, all that and I'm getting old.

@Kittaan: that's because you are already old... glassjaw used to tour with the tones when they were starting out... I remember them giving me a stack of their demos and first single on cassette to hand out way back when after a show.  I wouldn't go so far as to call them rip-offs but you're not missing much.  They are definitely a 'hipster' variation of the tones on some level, but shit, Chino's a big fucking hipster himself, so...

Fuck off, Glassjaw while inspired by Deftones are very very much their own band, douche.

they're actually all interrelated, Daryl Palumbo sings (or screams) in all three bands. if you like hardcore/scream-o/punk type shit you'd like United Nations. they're a super group with GJ/Converge members. I'd post a video but I can't seem to get it right, keeps saying something about iframes. I'm retarded. there's a lot of good underground music out there. I mean I like the jazz-fusion thing that VOLTO! is doing, I actually dig jazz-anything. I mean growing up there was a death metal band out of Brooklyn that incorporated jazz called "Candiria". their early music was fantastically original. to each his own.

So, I've been MIA for awhile. I come back to find out the tones have released a Limited Edition piece and somehow I missed out completely...I don't remember them posting about it on Facebook either, so I'm very bummed.

Did anyone happen to grab an extra? How much where they initially?

Thanks.

I don't think it's funny because it's true, I think it's funny that so many people tagged it like that.
