I'm sure I've seen this version of Lateralus done somewhere before, with a less professionally shot video.

Not sure if this got posted in here yet. Tried to skim back and then gave up because... 9 pages. :) Anyway, here's Amenra (good band) doing Parabol. Muy bueno.

One of the best Tool covers I've ever heard.

Not really a cover, but a breakdown of a Tool song. Videos like this really make me appreciate Tool's music that much more. To the lay person they would agree that Tool's riffs sound great, and they have a certain feel to them; but when you see how its broken down you see WHY it makes people feel that way. Tool fans feel the additional substance and depth that the music offers, even if they dont necessarily understand why. Very cool.

I really enjoyed that Schism video. It isolated lots of cool things about the song I'd never really appreciated before.

Very cool vid. I also enjoy deciphering the meter changes, and count it similarly to the way the old dude does it. He's MUCH better at it than I am, and I would have a lot of trouble trying to communicate it anywhere near as clearly as he does. Super interesting.

Unfortunately, the misspelling of "Bridge" at 8:22 made me lose all respect for this guy. What a loser.

I had no idea what he was talking about but I agree with his general sentiments

I tried watching that video breakdown of schism, but like tys0n, I have absolutely no clue what any of that means, so I couldn't get through the whole thing. The guy appears to be uber smart and talented musically, but I am a music imbecile. I am content in knowing the music is great, but not why it is great.

Or the part where he confuses D harmonic minor and C harmonic minor. What a dumbass.

It's a good breakdown of how the song functions, but it doesn't really explain how any of that shit makes the song "great" though.
