This is good. Really not crazy about both the vocals and the drum-machine programming (very specifically, the hard panning of the hats/other drums...), but... the riffs and writing are so good I can overlook it. Love the bass/guitar work on this.

Yeah, it's part of their aesthetic, which is fine but isn't for everyone. You are correct on the riffs and writing - that part is excellent and the highlight for me as well.
more new stuff. United Nations - United Nations Vs United Nations

I find the vocals pretty annoying. I did like some of the riffs, but couldn't much get past the vocals. Pass.
yeah ... I dig just about everything I've come across from them so far ... their first record comes out on the 8th

I always find the most inspiration when listening to things that are "thiiiiiiis close" to making me love it.

Just discovered this girl yesterday: Emma Ruth Rundle. Guitarist for Red Sparowes and currently opening for Buzz on his acoustic tour. Will not be for everyone. At all, haha.

I saw this on BaceFook. This JACK WHITE part is making me EXTREMELY hesitant.
I fucking hate that jackass.

just my analogy from the nature of some of the rough bluesy-ish riffs and tones.
anyhow, I knew nothing going in except a live cover of tourette's he did and a few interviews and comments that included things like, "we're two guys and we're going to make as much noise as we can ... not sure how much noise two guys can make but we're going to" and "the songs were recorded very quickly, and the 'mistakes' were left in" and "a lot of very old, vintage combo amps, pushing them way too hard," which resulted in damaging to the amps. The sounds of guitars cutting out is because the amps were actually breaking, and those sounds were left in.
either way, I dig it a lot.

The Beta Machine (Friedl, McJunkins) released their first single, "Pictures" yesterday.
Here is a link to a stream of Pelican's new live album. Not to flame the world but it seems to me that if a band that sounds like Pelican can produce a good quality live cd TOOL should be more than capable of pulling it off to their quality standards. But I like Pelican so opinions may differ.
ahh nice, pelican! a friend of mine in chicago who is a beer rep knows one of these guys and got me into them. the creeper is the first song i heard from them that really got me into it. thanks for posting this.
