The new NIN song came on on the radio on the drive home from work yesterday when it hit me, it's a parody of a parody of NIN

Never been a huge NIN fan. They have several songs that I like, but overall, I don't think they're as good as everyone makes them out to be. Not digging this song at all. Sounds like something you would hear at a club.

new album cover

The artwork for this album was created by Russell Mills, who previously collaborated with the band for the 1994 album The Downward Spiral

I really like that.

Uncomfortably brings up the omnipresent "orange contrasted with blue" thing you see everywhere, though.

Belew confirmed as not being part of NIN:

Adrian Belew, who helped bring Nine Inch Nails out of hibernation, has followed in the steps of Eric Avery and quit. Here is the statement from his official Facebook page.

hey folks, before this goes too far let me say this: I greatly respect trent and the music he makes. no one is at fault. we both agreed it just was not working. I’m sorry to disappoint anyone. that really hurts. but NIN will do an amazing show and I am back where I belong: creating FLUX.

And exactly how do you think people started listening to and liking Pretty Hate Machine?  It sure as shit was not on the radio.

True...but that was then and this is now. I think "club music" for lack of a better word is everywhere nowadays. A lot of pop artists are using that type of sound. It sure does have that Nails vibe- but it's just missing that certain something for me on the first listen. It could grow on me. I wanted something more grimey, more dangerous.

Released on October 20, 1989, the album was a commercial success, receiving radio airplay for the singles "Down in It", "Head Like a Hole" and "Sin". The songs "Terrible Lie" and "Something I Can Never Have" also received moderate airplay along with the three lead singles

Some of the sounds I'm hearing on this track makes me think of a Will.I.Am produced tune.

You have improved your cut and paste skills.  Two can play that game.  The chart below shows the singles for NIN and where they peaked on the chart.  If you know how to read, it says, "Hot Dance Music/Club Play".  Why?  Because it was big in the club before it hit the air waves.  Roast that shackle dragger!

NIN got discovered through fake snuff-films distributed via helium-balloon. That's how Maury first heard about them anyway.

Even if you don't totally dig NIN recordings, I can't recommend their live show enough. If you're a Tool fan, I have to imagine you'd at least think it was pretty fucking cool live, if not amazing.

Oh and Kanye West is an idiot and a joke. I don't know what "the industry" has convinced themselves of on that one.
