Treme is also a bit of a slog, in my opinion. Granted, I'm right fucking next door to New Orleans so I feel like I'm up to my goddamned eyeballs in New Orleans-related everything already, I don't need my nose rubbed in it further, thanks. That said, it's a great representation.

The Wire is where it's at though. Easily one of the greatest shows ever, you just have to give it time (like so many HBO series). Someone else mentioned Deadwood, and ditto. Another of the top-shelf greats that should be seen by every one.

I watched The Leftovers last night. Good pilot. I want to see more. However, it is fucking BLEAK. Well done, but BLEAK. Just know going in your are going to watch nothing but miserable people being absolutely miserable, and surely only going to get worse haha. But very well acted so... yeah.

Caught that today and dug it. Looking forward to seeing more.

Also watched the Fargo miniseries which I really dug. Forgot how great the Fargo theme is.

Just watched my first episode of Last Week Tonight, which was the current one.

Won't be making that mistake again, fucking terrible, haha people on the right are fucking stupid, lets laugh at them.

Not saying that his points weren't valid be jesus fucking christ, when did arguments become punch lines?

I've become way too sensible to enjoy shows like these.

Which is sad in itself, all I ever wanted was a mature discussion on the issues, now the divide between the two is a chasm, one wants to make homosexuality and abortions illegal, the other wants 6yr old boys to become girls and vice versa based on the feelings of the child.

I want off this wild ride.

I know what you mean.

I almost completely absolve from news media and current affairs. I've just fucking had it. There's entirely too much bullshit with smug assholes running around our televisions and internet thinking that they're funny because they are able to point out the weaker arguments of the other side.

I'm 32. I've already figured out what and who I agree with. I don't need someone to preach to me, nor do I need to feel like someone agrees with me.

I'm looking at you, Jon Stewart and Bill Maher.

I am more or less a raging liberal (although I like to simply think of myself as a sensible and compassionate fucking adult, so my views change depending on the issue, but for simplicity's sake...), and I would beat Bill Maher with his own smug shoes if I could.

I do love Jon Stewart though.

Also to stay on topic, I love Jon Oliver's show and feel like it's done a good job of really using the weekly format to its advantage. I enjoy the Daily Show, but it's nice when a show like this can utilize the perspective a week offers to kind of drill down further into a certain issue vs. just taking everything that comes in that day and doing your best with it.

When does The Strain premiere?

Is it this Sunday? I keep forgetting about it.

I read the first two books and they weren't great, but I think they could make a good TV show.

Finished season 1 of Penny Dreadful. It was pretty messy, but there's a lot of potential there. I'm optimistic the writers can pull it together next season. Overall I enjoyed it, but it was not without it's frustrations.
► Show Spoiler
I'd give it a 7.75/10.

It really deserved to win that ELAIFF award. The only reason The Web won was because it was made by the guy who put together the award ceremony. Fucking bullshit.

Just finished season 3 of The Sopranos. I feel like I've been watching this show for a long time, but it's really only been like ten days.
