FINALLY saw Queens this past weekend at Hangout Festival here. They were as amazing as I expected although: festival set. Can't be avoided. Now I must see them at their own show.

Good to hear. They are consistently excellent performers. I never mind much where I see them. They are not a band that needs the bells and whistles and a bare staged festival set in the sunshine works well for them.

Not the best recording but a decent song none the less. I'd be very interested to watch an acoustic set from him.

Front Row last night at QOTSA. Such a good fun time.

Pics from the show if anyone is interested. May I dare say they put on a much better show than the last few times I've seen the almighty TOOL?

Josh Homme said, "We have a setlist tonight...but fuck it! We are just gonna play whatever we feel like it, we're having such a good time. This is not a job for us, it's having fun..."

Josh's wife opened the show, and then gave me the setlist after QOTSA peformed.

Same. I thoroughly enjoyed ...Like Clockwork.

So.. Homme has kids of his own, wrote/played on Lady Gaga's latest album, recorded/toured with Iggy, is currently going through a lawsuit and still managed to write and record a QOTSA album in approximately 4 years. Amazing.

To be fair though, you only need to know about 4 guitar chords to write a QOTSA album

Yeah, is it time to retire that comparison (with re: to the Tool "wait") yet? Whether as a legit dig or as a joke... holy shit.

Besides the fact that that was a joke. I imagine there's probably enough decent material across all those albums to make one good album.

I believe King Gizzard and The Lizard are going to try and do something like that this year. So if you're going to do it, you should do it now while it's still cool.

Strange move playing Darwin and skipping most of the other big capitals. Good to see our northern brothers and sisters getting a show though.
