I'd like to see Adam do the artwork as long as it something other than a skull or a hand or a fish.

What if it's something like this:fortysixand2 wrote:I'd like to see Adam do the artwork as long as it something other than a skull or a hand or a fish.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
We'll I'm going to criticise the artwork on 10k Days right now (I think I have in the past as well). I found the Alex Grey stuff on that album to be pretty average, and remember being quite disappointed when I saw the cover.Ravenpig wrote:The complaints about Alex Grey have more to do with the fact that it'd be the same artist 3 albums in a row. I've rarely seen anyone criticize the artwork on Lateralus or 10K Days.
Thankfully the 3D and the photography inside it well and truly make up for the uninspiring Alex Grey cover art.
The Lateralus art was excellent.
I'd actually be quite happy with the idea of Korin doing art for the next album, but I don't think it will happen.
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Depending on the subject, Korin definitely has skillz. I'd be interested to see what she would come up with. There's actually a thread for this topic, btw. You lazy Fuchs.

I said this in the past when Blair started talking about Rance Q. Spartley. I'd really like to see Robert Steven Connett do the artwork for the new album.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I can see that Adams strong point is video, but a collab where Adams ideas are made more intricate and bold would be cool too. I keep thinking Alex Grey and Meats Mier will do something special for them and over the top. Regardless of Adams involvement.hellboy wrote:I'd rather Adam sticks to video - that's where his artistic talent really shines for me. I'd almost rather Alex Grey did the cover art than Adam.blacksabbath wrote:It would be cool if he did all the art on the upcoming album.

Who honestly cares about the album artwork? They could put a picture of dog poo on the cover for all I care.

this is one of many things that seperate tool from everyone else. they still care about the album artwork, like many bands USE to do, they are one of the one and only bands that does it. and i like itLetsGoBruins wrote:Who honestly cares about the album artwork? Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I hope they go more minimal on the art this time. Tool can do minimal in a very powerful way, and I'd like to see that in the art.

There are a lot of bands that still care about artwork.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
i think the main problem with the 10kdays Alex Grey art is that they are actually pictures wich are exhibited in galleries, so basically Adam went there, and he pointed to certain images and telling Alex they are going to be nice for this album
so they were not coming from, and evolving together, with the overall concept of the album (by the way the album doesnt have any overall concept besides the irony and bitterness, wich are viewpoints not concepts)
they dont fit in, i mean, how can you relate that skull with the idea-baby, or any of those (seen already in Alex Grey exhibitions and books before) images with any of the tracks?
im not criticising for the sake of it, and i know im probably the only one with this oppinion, but the 3D stuff didnt do any magic to me, i mean it was fun, i saw the images with it, and probably done it 5 times then its nothing really...
On the other hand, Vicarious DVD is much better, it has a concept to it, all of the images makes sense and are in tune with each other, and the cd, and everything. Thats a really great package with cool 3D stuff.
sorry for the offtopic peoplez

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
in relation to the artwork/package, and in relation to the rest of the Tool songs, especially pre-2006Kittaan wrote: In relation to what?
but i guess its already over-talked and kind of boring to talk about 10kdays, so sorry for the offtopic again, and wait for some nice refreshing news in the social media
(i miss the old world without social media though, every band had different web-pages with different vibe :'( )

OK. In all honesty...yes that could work. With a few adjustments here and there to make it more Toolish.

Can't wait for the Penn State University marching band cover of "Prison Sex" during the half time of their homecoming game.

If you're really bored you can vote for Tool in Loudwire's Best Live Band Contest. They're up against Motley Crue.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I like that they're in the stagedive region because that's totally Tool's thing.
Though the best section is probably the mosh pit region.
