I don't know, is it THAT unlikely we'll see a new album this year?

If it's already recorded I have no doubt it'll be out this year. I'm skeptical that they've recorded the album personally, but happy to be proven wrong.

Wouldn't we have had news of someone spying them going to studios and whatnot?

I feel like this has been discussed before.

There were a couple of studio type shots that I think Adam posted on Instagram late last year. At the time I suspected they had something to do with another project Tool may be working on,but if the report is accurate then it could be that they recorded the album then very quietly.

That's from the Loft though. I highly doubt, given their recording history, that they'd record there. Also, the hashtag indicates they were probably just demoing. But who knows.

If anything, I'd imagine at most he said the writing is "100% done" and they're hoping to record it this year. Spring 2015 release.
