Hip hop/Rap . . .

Post by The Boss »

I'm starting to think that I'm a big fan of hip hop/rap. Much like with anything, I'm not a fan of the cheap or crass stuff.

Any recommendations?

I dig MOS DEF, NAS (God-tier NAS), KANYE, pretty much everything on the Hyperdub label. I'm more into the chill side of the genre, or anything that evokes New York in a rough area on a sunny summer afternoon. Not big on aggressive stuff, or anything that has an excessive use of the words "niggers", "bitch/es", or "hoes".

Huge fan of trip hop.

I'm trying to branch out a bit. Any help would be sweet.

(Sorry if there is already a thread for this. I gave it a cursory glance, but couldn't find anything.)
O love will you read the letters I will send to you.

K. Got that previous song on repeat. It's fucking awesome.

I love the instrumental in the background. It's busy, but still really chill. It matches the vocals perfectly.

Holy fucking fuck me graciously.

It's like I've discovered music again.

My God.

That's two now - that BT album, and this. Might have to buy you more than beer the next time I stay at your place . . .

dude, if you want chill-out/smoke out/futuristic concept raps, look no further than deltron 3030

if you don't dig the first one from 2000, you have a mental instability that I'd seriously consider getting checked out

light that blunt, sit back and enjoy, son

Cypress Hill III is great
Aesop has a ton of quality stuff
Liquid Swords is the best hip-hop album ever written
Older Roots albums, talking 2000 and before
Tribe had their time
Too $hort if you want hilarity and non-sensical

1. Cypress Hill II is great
2. Aesop has a ton of quality stuff
3. Liquid Swords is the best hip-hop album ever written
4. Older Roots albums, talking 2000 and before
5. Tribe had there time
6. Too $hort if you want hilarity and non-sensical
1. Done my time as a loser kid in "tha projects".
2. Over-rated.
3. - 5. Very interested; on my list.
6. Not really into humour with this genre. I think that if it's handled with sensitivity and gumption, it's a genre that can really hit you in the feels (but not necessarily in an emotional way).

Thanks brother.
