Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
i heard a podcast with that guy a couple of years ago. is he the same one that can make pretty sweet drinks ? i saw some video on Rush's site years ago and there was a video of him making mia tias or something like that. On that podcast he also said the business he runs rents out lasers to Tool
Rush influenced tons of people no doubt. They were my first fav band and the first concert i ever saw in 1988. i was in grade 6! we had good seats close on the floor on Alex's side. i was kind of freaked out cause it was so loud. i was a bit young but it was still cool.
Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Helix was a wicked concert. I sold a lot of dope at that concert. They had good lyrics. Give me an r-o-c-k! And the crowd yells "rock" really loud. Now that's a fucking concert. Rush just don't do stuff like that. Their lyrics are about how trees are talking to each other, How different sides of the brain work and outer space bullshit.

And yes, the laser company that he runs is the one that Tool uses.
Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
the old link for that podcast is goners but i had the file saved. if anyones interested in hearing it here it is. its an interview with Howard Ungerleider. He use to be Rushs lighting guy. Junior mentioned him. i can see the influence in the R40 video. pretty cool!

what are you talking about? you were singing helix songs. ''rock'' what ? i didnt question you didnt know Helix lyrics but i figured you never saw them. so u have, big fan ? headband and all i use to have those wrist band things in the 80's. i thought they were cool and of course those windbreaker jackets you could fold up into the big zip up pocket on the front. i think Helix was selling those at the show.

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
I'm fucking ecstatic about it. I couldn't go to the last leg and am dying to see either version of this current set. So happy they didn't change anything or that much.
AM happy that Junior and co (or whoever made the decision) has gone back to LED walls for the stage elements and the dark stage floor/surroundings. The white is so cool but I like Tool darker visually with the lighting. White bounces too much off onto everyone and the projections just don't come out well at all against the other LED walls.
Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
The way the production builds, adding (or removing in some cases) a layer, revealing new elements for each song is just so cool. There's so much to take in, and yet it all works incredibly well together. \m/joeypants wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 9:22 am I'm fucking ecstatic about it. Hey Junior,
Out of curiosity, what's the timer in the lower right corner of this picture (showing 20:34:40) counting up to?

I'm pretty stoked the set hasn't changed tbh. They re playing my fav songs off FI , over the two nights in Melb, id like to think we will get FI, Pneuma, Invinvcible / Descending. Then if we get part of me in addition I will lose ma shit. Have always loved the banger and it holds amazing memories of my first holiday to the tropics as a young adult, first time skydiving n all that. One month!

For me, Part of Me is one if their least appealing tracks... If we're talking Opiate, i'd much prefer the extended version of Jerk Off. I'd love to see that extended bit at a live show! Sadly, i doubt it's ever gonna happen.Busty McCracken wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 5:47 pm I'm pretty stoked the set hasn't changed tbh. Man jerk off is an absolute beast of a song that I adore.
I bought salival on said holiday and saw them live the month before, so part of me was getting a special lashing. But yeah, I'd have to say jerk off is the better song, just part of me has a more significant memory.

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Junior, any insight as to why the side screens/extensions are gone this tour?
edit: also serious nerd question, but is that transmitter Adam seems to be wearing linked to the follow spots above?

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
I thought their exclusion might have something to do with the size of the Viejas Arena in San Diego. Were they still not used in San Jose last night?

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
I love how they are occasionally adding an old school track from Opiate or Undertow on these tours. Intolerance sounded fantastic last year but getting Part Of Me was really cool the other night. Anything like Hush, Part Of Me, Cold & Ugly or Jerk Off would be be a nice addition or replacement right now though given how well the band is playing. These old songs really do have an extra punch or hit being played live in 2020.Busty McCracken wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 4:03 am Man jerk off is an absolute beast of a song that I adore.

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
@ Norm - nope, I noticed they were missing in SJ as well and wondered why the same as Joey. I was about halfway back, 8th row on the risers, which was a near perfect view, and I didn’t miss the side screens at all. But I assume they would be nice for certain seat views. Interested in hearing Jr’s response on this.
Finally got Descending live and it did NOT disappoint in the least. Highlight of a stellar show. They are just that much tighter now, compared to the LA shows in Oct. So killer to see them again so soon, and witness the progression of the performance and the stage presentation. Everything elevated. Extremely dialed in, both the band and crew. Loved the subtle tweaks and the build up to total domination on the visuals as the set progressed. Masterful.
That being said, I noticed about a half dozen minor fuckups, mostly from Adam and Danny. I doubt most people even noticed, and it certainly didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the show.
Loved the Vicarious intro and minor changes. They are clearly having fun. Me too.
I wanna go again tonight!!! Oh, wait.. I am!! Bummer it’s a 3 hour drive to the armpit of California... But well worth it.
Anybody on here hitting Fresno? Let me know.

If I leave now I might be able to make it.
And I thought my 2+ hour drive to San Diego on Sunday was rough. Truth be told I couldn't have asked for a better drive there or back. It was a long day though.
Hope you have a great time tonight too.
