Hippies have given the drum circle a bad name but this behind-the-scenes video from the recording sessions for the Man Of Steel soundtrack could erase all memories of Byron Bay bongos, dreadlocks and bare-feet. The clip features Matt Chamberlain, Josh Freese, Danny Carey, Jason Bonham, Pharrell Williams, Sheila E., John J.R. Robinson, Satnam Ramgotra, Toss Panos, Jim Keltner, Vinnie Colaiuta, Bernie Dresel, Curt Bisquera, Trevor Lawrence, Jr., and Ryeland Allison all hitting stuff with sticks. Somehow Dave Grohl and Jim White missed out on an invitation.

Mark Lanegan is up to something?? more info por favor.
yeah, read this:
Mark Lanegan - on working with Duke Garwood & QotSA, his new 'crooner' album & moreÂ
In a new interview with Q Magazine, Mark Lanegan discussed his collaborations and what he’s been recently working on. Lanegan talked about the positive experience he had working with Duke Garwood on their recent collaboration album ‘Black Pudding.’ While discussing his collaborations with various artists such as Josh Homme and Greg Dulli, he said that “the music is secondary to our friendship.†Lanegan also revealed that he will be releasing a new album in the fall of this year.Â
On the topic of his new record, Lanegan said:Â
“I wanted to make a record with a crooner-ish type of song, for want of a better term. You know, orchestrated, stuff like Andy Williams or Perry Como would do. I ended-up recording a record like that in February, it’s going to be out in the fall. That was something I wanted to do for years and years.â€Â
Lanegan also added: “I do a John Cale song, a Nick Cave song but in that style. It’s called Imitations.â€Â
Finally, Lanegan said that he’s been writing songs every day for the next Mark Lanegan Band album. The ‘crooner’ album and the new Mark Lanegan Band album are “all [he has] on the docket†right now. Lanegan recently rumored a two-disc anthology set and a new Gutter Twins album in the future, but the interview made no mention of these projects.Â

MARK LANEGAN REVEALS COVERS ALBUM ‘IMITATIONS’ RELEASE DATE, TRACKLIST, AND RELEASES NEW SONGÂ
Mark Lanegan announced that he will be releasing his new covers album ‘Imitations’ on September 17, 2013. Lanegan discussed the emotional significance of the album in a statement:Â
“When I was a kid in the late sixties and early seventies, my parents and their friends would play the records of Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Perry Como, music with string arrangements and men singing songs that sounded sad whether they were or not. At home my folks were also listening to country music, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, George Jones and Vern Gosdin were some of our favorites. For a long time I’ve wanted to make a record that gave me the same feeling those old records did, using some of the same tunes I loved as a kid and some that I’ve loved as I have gotten older. This record is it. Imitations.â€
Mark Lanegan has released the first song from ‘Imitations,’ a cover of John Cale’s “I’m Not The Loving Kind.â€Â This sounds different from what Lanegan fans might be used to, but Lanegan’s classic voice pervades throughout and his ambition in trying something new should be celebrated.Â
The tracklist for ‘Imitations’ was also revealed by Lanegan. The album will feature 9 covers and 3 originals:Â
01. “Flatlands†(Chelsea Wolfe)Â
02. “She’s Gone†(Hall & Oates)Â
03. “Deepest Shadeâ€Â
04. “You Only Live Twice†(Nancy Sinatra)Â
05. “Pretty Colors†(Frank Sinatra)Â
06. “Brompton Oratory†(Nick Cave)Â
07. “Solitaireâ€Â
08. “Mack The Knife†(Bobby Darin)Â
09. “I’m Not The Loving Kind†(John Cale)Â
10. “Lonely Street†(Patsy Cline)Â
11. “Elégie Funèbre†(Gérard Manset)Â
12. “Autumn Leavesâ€Â
Mark Lanegan will release ‘Imitations’ on September 17, 2013 on Vagrant Records
09. “I’m Not The Loving Kind†(John Cale)Â

TRACKLIST REVEALED FOR UPCOMING MARK LANEGAN ANTHOLOGYÂ
Mark Lanegan will release an anthology set entitled Has God Seen My Shadow?Â
An Anthology 1989-2011 on Light In The Attic Records. The title is likely related to a lyric from Lanegan’s “Come to Me,†from his album Bubblegum: “Ask God to see my shadow.â€Â Although the anthology does not currently have a release date, the tracklist for the set has been revealed. The anthology will feature twenty previously release tracks as well as 12 unreleased songs.Â
01. BombedÂ
02. One Hundred DaysÂ
03. Come to MeÂ
04. MirroredÂ
05. Pill Hill SerenadeÂ
06. One Way StreetÂ
07. Kimiko’s Dream HouseÂ
08. LowÂ
09. Resurrection SongÂ
10. Shiloh TownÂ
11. Creeping Coastline of LightsÂ
12. Lexington Slow DownÂ
13. Last One in the WorldÂ
14. WheelsÂ
15. MockingbirdsÂ
16. Wild FlowersÂ
17. SunriseÂ
18. CarnivalÂ
19. PendulumÂ
20. The River RiseÂ
—————————————–Â
Previously unreleased:Â
21. Dream LullabyeÂ
22. Leaving New River BluesÂ
23. SympathyÂ
24. To Valencia CourthouseÂ
25. Song While WaitingÂ
26. Blues for D (vocal version)Â
27. Big White Cloud (John Cale cover)Â
28. No ContestarÂ
29. Following the RainÂ
30. Grey Goes Black (alternative version)Â
31. Halcyon DazeÂ
32. Blues Run the Game (live)Â
It was previously rumored that five songs featured in the 2009 film Cook County would appear on Lanegan’s upcoming anthology. However, it now seems that the rumor was either false or the song titles have changed. It is also interesting to note that the first twenty songs, which feature Lanegan songs that have already been released, are ordered in reverse chronological order except for a reversal in the order of tracks from The Winding Sheet and Whiskey for the Holy Ghost.

Quality over quantity. For every good Mastodon song is an average one.

Sounds like any of the millions of stoner slugger bands or wtf you call them these days?!?
I don't disagree, but a band doesn't need to be original to be enjoyable.
Let's go back and find that sleepmakeswaves comment you made earlier?

Nothing hypocritical about my statement. Â All combinations of originality and interestingness are valid.

AL Jourgensen claims to have once tricked Fred Durst into recording while wearing nothing but a cowboy hat.
"The Limp-dickster motherfucker, whatever his name is. I got him naked and in a cowboy hat [in a recording studio]! I'm showing him, 'Look, you want my sound? This is my sound. This is what I use.' And he wouldn't believe it because just by hitting the magic button on the harmonizer that it wouldn't make him sound exactly like me. He was that naïve. I'm like, 'Well, try the cowboy hat.' So I gave him my cowboy hat. . . and it still sounded like shit. So I go, 'Why don't you try and get naked? That's how I sing.' I was just bullshitting him. So he goes out and does that, and is thoroughly embarrassed, again. And then he just left. I got paid to just humiliate him for three songs. It was awesome."
