Actually did today. Usually do once a month now. Just from idle curiosity (I was eating breakfast).
Does nothing for me anymore. Brockway has become a mere shadow of his former self.

Ha yea good point, sorry. I singled Crow's out only because he said he didn't even hear it all the way through, not because he didn't like it.Busty McCracken wrote:I like that ya whinge about not getting any reviews, ya then go on to get 4 reviews & ignore the 3 that actually got something out of the album..
But I'm glad my post got the thread going even if in hindsight it does look pretty whiny. I like everyone's review and I'm glad most of you have liked it. Tyson's review was excellent even the little pot-shots he took at me were pretty good, got a chuckle out of me. (I thought about the Blair thing for a while before I chose this album but decided it was irrelevant. I don't know if I would've come across this band otherwise...they only made two albums like 40 years ago.)
But yea, Busty, thanks for the review and I'm glad ya liked it. Hoping there's a couple more before this thread inevitably fizzles out.

Fun little trivia, the drummer is none other than Marky Ramone. And they only had one other album, called Hard Attack.Kittaan wrote:Started earlier, but only completed it last night. What really stands out for me is the rhythm section, most definitely the drums. The drummer is clearly the high point, and the bassist has some moments. There are flashes of decent guitar playing, but far too much lazy wanking. The dudes voice is not unpleasant, but not remarkable either. The lyrics are atrocious. The song writing, for the most part is just weak and incoherent. I saw your note about later albums, and will check them out, but I wouldn't go back to this.

Oh yeah, now I remember you pointed that out earlier. Surprising because of the very low level of musicianship on the Ramones in general. Good to know the fucker could play.Ravenpig wrote:drummer is none other than Marky Ramone
Got it. I'll find it and take a listen.Ravenpig wrote:they only had one other album, called Hard Attack.
I believe that was the name of Bilbo's dealer (one of the Underhill Wankbags) in the original, more spicy draft of the Hobbit. True story. The Boss wrote:Spunktrumpet Wankbag

You know they smoked only the finest of the stick icky in the Shire.Kittaan wrote: I believe that was the name of Bilbo's dealer (one of the Underhill Wankbags) in the original, more spicy draft of the Hobbit. True story.

Hey Pig:
I did not care for this.
Over all I would give it a 4/11.1
It is nothing personal.
However, I did at least Wiki the band and was not surprised to find they were damn young when this was recorded.
Also, 'dust' sounds like something Blair would have liked...not that that has anything to do with whether or not tool would cover the band, or the song about dry humping a camel, fucking weirdo's.

Sounds like it. It was fairly derivative stuff.
I think the whole "vintage" aspect is what people are attracted to.

Is it really "vintage" if it was actually released in '71

I do believe everyone knew what I meant when I used the term "vintage".hellboy wrote:Is it really "vintage" if it was actually released in '71

I'm not sure that I do. Are you saying people enjoy it because it sounds old or because it is old?The Boss wrote:I do believe everyone knew what I meant when I used the term "vintage".hellboy wrote:Is it really "vintage" if it was actually released in '71

He gets that way once a month it seems. Might have something to do with his unnatural obsession with Fiona Apple. Or maybe he is really a she and just on the rag. It is the interwebz. What is it with ppl feeling the need to defend their picks lately? Your girlfriend Tyson got up in arms because no one gave his BT pick a 10 / 10 and now RP is yapping. The Boss wrote:You've been a little snappy lately, dude. Note to everyfuckingbody: Post the link and stfu. Obviously YOU like the album you are posting. Kinda pointless spending half a thread defending it.

^ Have to agree Moggie. And I'm guilty as well. Next time that's my plan.

Wasn't "defending" anything, Crow wasn't the only one who didn't like it. It was just a statement. I really don't care if someone doesn't like it, as I'm not in the band.
I guess my posts are usually so vanilla that even that mild post makes you all think I'm raging or something.
