- You like noisy music?
- Yes. The louder the better. Stops me from thinking.
- You don't like to think? What do you like?
- Never thought about it.

I like 13 but I doubt it'll end up on my top 10 for the year.
Yeah, I agree.
The main reason it really made my list is because it had been awhile since I had listened to any of the other contenders, and I had had a good time with it a couple of days before making my list.

So far, in no order except that DEP is my AOY by a long shot so far. Â The rest is fairly obvious:
Dillinger Escape Plan: One of Us is the Killer
Nails: Abandon All Life
Boards of Canada: Tomorrow's Harvest
Intronaut: Habitual Levitations
Bosnian RainbowsÂ
Mark Lanegan & Duke Garwood: Black Pudding
Palms
Clutch: Earth Rocker
QOTSA: ... Like Clockwork
Kinoko Teikoku:Â Eureka (but mostly for one great, very addictive track)
Best records not on my list: prolly a toss up between Bowie and Nick Cave
Honorable mention to Sigur Ros, cuz I made it through twice before deciding again that they are not my thing, but I can recognize the draw. Â Still want to see them live.
Most over-rated record on this site this year: Scale the Summit (sorry Mog, but after calling Palms pop music, this is some of the most bland prog-post-whatever-the-fuck I've ever listened to. The third track on this record, specifically has some of the most cheesy-generic guitar playing I've heard since eighties hair metal. Â Literally couldn't take the rest of it seriously after that)
Almost had a chance but the vocalist decided to show up and be mediocre: Mouth of the Architect
Haven't yet listened to Boris, Skinny Puppy or Fuck Buttons, but all on my list (granted Fuck Buttons historically hasn't done much for me).
Probably missed a few, but there's still 6 months to go and I have to go through most of Calfium's cooler than me list.
